• Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS) is a rare neurological disorder in which the body’s immune system mistakenly attacks the peripheral nerves.

SYMPTOMS:

• Sudden weakness typically accompanied by fluctuating pain , tingling, numbness ascending type. The legs are usually more affected than the arms.
• Some time neck and chest are also affected.
• Some time difficulty in swallowing food and also difficulty in passing stool and urine.
• Some time tosis of eyelids occurs.
• In chronic stage it can be converted into paralysis.
• In acute stage in some cases there is difficulty in breathing so ventilator is necessary.
• Some time sudden low B P occurs.
• If it’s not treated properly, it can be fatal also.

CAUSES: 

GBS is due to virus or bacteria infection.

In 2021 there were many patients of GBS in Post COVID 19(corona virus) complications.

Other cause of GBS is campylobacter infection which is in form of diarrhea.
